Lamb Shanks with Sweet Potatoes and Dried Fruit

2 medium sweet potatoes peeled and
cut crosswise into thick slices
1 8 ounce package mixed dried fruit
3-4 1 to 1 1/2 pound lamb shanks
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 clove garlic crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Place sweet potatoes on bottom of a 5 quart slow cooker. Top with dried fruit and lamb shanks. In a small bowl, combine orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over lamb. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or until lamb is tender. Makes about 6 servings.
