Lamb Pilaf (Baranini Pilaff)

3 lb Lamb breast, boned and cubed
3 tb Butter
3 Onions, cut in half
1/4 ts Salt or more to taste
1/4 ts Black pepper
1 1/2 c Raw rice
4 c Hot water


Saute lamb in butter for 5 minutes. Add onions, slt and peppers, stirring until very brown. Add water and rice. Mix. Cover. Bake at 300 deg for 2 hours. 6-8 servings.
